How Internet Of Things Work

I’ve worked with a lot of tech startups who are working on innovative products and have hosted pitching competitions, hackathons and events. I always get asked pretty broad questions about tech such as “What is Internet of Things (IoT)?” or “How is IoT changing industries?”. And over the years, I’ve worked so hard to boil it down to something that can be easily understood.

If you google IoT you’d get a pretty unnecessary explanation of what it means, but you will also find some useful resources if you research hard enough. Before I jump in, note that all of the things I’m going to be writing in this blog are just some background knowledge I have from all the courses I’ve taken as well as all the knowledge I got from startups I’ve interacted with when I was living in the tech startup capital of Asia. Internet Of things is everywhere! They are the smart network devices that interact with each other and share data. I’m sure you’ve noticed that things are quickly changing — in our homes, the way we purchase, monitoring personal health. Everything is getting more connected and accessile. But how exactly do these devices share data and how do they put them into work? So there is a common internet of things platform that brings all these diverse information together and provides the common language the devices and apps…
